Two Female Teenagers Lying in Bed wearing Eye Masks
By: Digital Vision
Date: N/A dv708017-two-female-teenagers-lying-in-bed-wearing-eye-gettyimages.jpg
These two girls are depicted as being happy! They wear smiles on their faces and seem to be laughing, giving off the image of happiness. To me, this image portrays happiness because it seems like the two girls are freinds, maybe even best friends. They look as if they are laughing and enjoying being together, therefore i feel like they are portraying happiness.
Woman Looking out of a Rainy Window
By: Rekha Garton
Date: 2012 144758568-woman-looking-out-of-rainy-window-gettyimages.jpg
I think this woman has a secret. I feel this way because we can't see her face, but the outline of her features. I think the way the lighting is (so that we see the dark half of her face) really adds a sort of gloomy, mysterious effect to the image. It looks like she is looking out the window in longing for something, and that something is her secret.

In this image, i see a woman in deep sadness. I feel like the world around her has come crashing down and she can no longer stand it. I see that she is extremely sad, and the way the image in portrayed lends itself to that. She's alone and we can't see her face, but is in a position that suggests she is holding herself together. In this image, i see immense sadness.
Murder mystery
By: Flash Parker
Date: 2012 158896070-murder-mystery-gettyimages.jpg
I see this photo as someone doing or perceived as being bad. Although we cannot see the man's face, nor the victim's for that matter, but we can assume that he is bad because we can see the faint outline of a knife in the man's hand. By looking at this image, the first thing i see is that the man in the doorway murdered the person whose hand we see on the ground. Obviously, murder is a bad thing, therefore i see the man in the doorway as doing something (or having done something) bad.

Young woman in bath, wearing costume and blowing party blower
By: Image Source
Date: N/A 145073418-young-woman-in-bath-wearing-costume-and-gettyimages.jpg
In this picture, a woman believes she is at a party. She thinks she is on the pool deck, when really she is at home in her bathtub. This image can exemplify "Not playing with a full deck" because she does not seem to be in the right state of mind. The picture itself is odd, adding to the effect that she is off her rocker.
A magician sitting at a table playing with cards
By: Justin Case
Date: N/A 157017943-magician-sitting-at-a-table-playing-with-gettyimages.jpg
In this photo, a magician sits at a table, waiting for someone to play cards with him. This unsuspecting person will sit down and the magician will ask them to pick a card. They will, and the magician will tell them that the card they have is the King of Hearts, and the person will ask how he did it. What the magician will not tell them, is that his whole deck is made up entirely of Kings of Hearts, and that it's the only card in his deck. This image represents "Not playing with a full deck" because the magician is literally not playing with a full deck of cards.
Woman in dress made of office supplies having fun with stapler
By: Ryan McVay
Date: N/A 200135734-001-woman-in-dress-made-of-office-supplies-gettyimages.jpg
The woman in the photo is about to get fired from her job, and she knows it. For her last day, she decided to have some fun and make a wreck of the office. She created a dress out of all the sticky-notes in the building and walked around pointing her stapler at people and yelling incoherent things at them. She stuck pencils from her boss' desk in her bun and made fun of her other co-workers. This image describes "Not playing with a full deck" because the woman did all these things out of the extreme sadness she felt for being fired. She wanted revenge on the company for letting her go, so that's why she did all those crazy things. At the time, she thought it was a good idea while all her coworkers were worried for her sanity.
Elephant dancing on stage
By: John Lund and Stephanie Roeser
Date: N/A 142739998-elephant-dancing-on-stage-gettyimages.jpg
In this photo, we see an elephant dancing on a stage, but in reality, it is a beautiful ballerina. What you don't know is that that the man who had taken this photograph sees this woman, along with everything else in the world, differently. He sees the woman ballerina as an elephant because that makes more sense to him in his mind. To us, it seems silly, but to him, it is natural for an elephant to prance around on a stage. This image represents "Not playing with a full deck" because we see through the eyes of a man who sees life in a silly kind of light. We find his depiction of the world to be silly and even crazy, but to him, everything s how it should be.

1) I remember when my cousin Audrey slept over for the first time. My dad was going away for the weekend so my mom said we could have a sleepover, so we invited Audrey over and she stayed with us the entire weekend! I remember we watched Mary Kate & Ashley movies until 10 at night, very late for 4th (sister), 5th (Audrey), and 6th (me) graders. We had slept in my room, the first night my sister slept with Audrey on the blowup mattress and the next night i slept with her. That was probably the first sleepover i had at my house, one of only four. It was so sad to drop her off at home Sunday afternoon. We went to pick up Dad from the airport then dropped Audrey off at home. I remember being so sad that she had to go, and we promised that we would have to do it again soon.
2) The day we got our dog, Peanut, was very unusual. My sister and I had been picked up from school by my Grandmother and we went to her house. We were very suspicious as to why we went with Nana and even more suspicious when we had dinner at our Aunt's house. We played with our cousins and our mother brought us home. We walked in the door and up the stairs, there were tons of doggie toys and a big crate sitting in the living room. I didn't know it yet, but Peanut was laying on my dads shoulder, i thought he was a toy he was so small! My sister and i freaked out, shreiking and running over to him. I remember he was so soft and his eyes were closed. he had the tiniest paws and the cutest wrinkles on his legs, we said he had socks on. I remember it was around my sister's birthday, May something. Peanut was only a few weeks old then, but now he's 6 years old and so much bigger than when he was a puppy. That was a great day!
3) I think one of the greatest day's of my life was when my boyfriend asked me out. It was a Saturday, February 19th. He had just gotten back from ice skating with some friends and I was watching a movie at home. We were talking about his old girlfriend and how they had broken up. That was when he asked me to go out with him and i was so excited! i told him yes and then i didn't know what to do! He said he knew i would be speechless because he knew me. I remember running upstairs and telling my parents and being so happy! Definitely one of my favorite memories.
4) I remember the day my youngest cousin, Trenton was born. It was his oldest brother's birthday party, two days after his real birthday! We were at Chuckie Cheese while my aunt was in the hospital. i remember going up to my grandmother when the party was over and she told us that Trenton was born only a few hours before. Brandon and Devin (Trenton's brothers) were so happy, they wanted to leave sooner! Brandon even forgot about his birthday party and wanted to see his littlest brother right away. Brandon loved having his birthday two days before Trenton's and it was so cute how excited they were.

Forest Fire

Date: N/A dv848006-forest-fire-gettyimages.jpg
This picture shows a fire erupting in the forest. We can still see the bright tree branches that have fallen from the trees as well as the fie crawling along the forest floor and starting to climb the trees in the background. Not only was the photographer able to capture the fire eating away at the forest, but he was able to show the forest in its state before the fire was able to reach it. The branches in the front have yet to be touched by the fire whereas the trees in the background are covered in flames and smoke.

Liquid Reflections
by: Liliane Lijn
date: 1968 http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/lijn-liquid-reflections-t01828
In this picture, light is used as matter through the reflection of the water drops onto the dish they sit in as well as through the contrast of light and dark. You could even say that the reflection on the dish is their shadows! I thought this photo was elegant in it's simplicity. I like how the drops of water are "standing" alone but their shadows come together on the dish to look like they are on top of each other. I also like the contrast of the yellow drop against everything else in the photo. It is the only real color in the photo aside from black or white and i think it really brings the whole thing together instead of another white drop would.
Cat projecting shadow of lion
by: Howard Berman
date: N/A http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=2&language=en-US&family=creative&assetType=image&excludenudity=true&p=lion+shadow
This image reflects the idea of light as subject matter because of the cats shadow being reflected onto the wall. The image speaks to me because it shows that you can never judge a person (or cat) by their looks. When you think of a cat, you wouldn't believe that a small house cat could be as ferocious as its lion cousins. Same goes for humans. Someone that's small and vulnerable can be fierce and possessive as well.

by: Peter Cade
date: N/A http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=2&language=en-US&family=creative&assetType=image&excludenudity=true&p=silhouetted+by+light
Light is the subject matter in this image because the people's bodies are shadowed by the setting sun and you can see thier partial reflection in the small puddles of water on the ground. Also, the setting sun makes the image look darker yet still has some visible light within it. I was drawn to this image because it reminds me of summer as well as the joy of being with friends all day long. I like how their bodies all suggest that they are in a good, happy mood and are jumping out of joy as well as from a fun-filled day.

Fire on ice
2010
I chose this photo because I like how the sparks look, arcing over the icy water. And then the blue fire looks so graceful on top of the water and i love that! I like how the colors
of the red and blue fire jump out at you in comparison to the dull landscape colors in the background, as well. I'm drawn to the way the blue fire is so smooth in it's curves and the red sparks look amazing, curving over the water in a shower of color.

Personally, i love this photo because it reminds me of my relationship and how i like to draw hearts and lovey-stuff in the condensation on windows or glasses or whatever. I also like how you can't really tell what she's thinking. you can see the shadow of a smile on her face, but you can't see her eyes to tell if she's drawing a heart for someone she is in love with, or maybe thinking of someone she lost that she loved, or even thinking about how much she likes drawing random things in the condensation of the windows like i do!

Liquid Reflections

In this picture, light is used as matter through the reflection of the water drops onto the dish they sit in as well as through the contrast of light and dark. You could even say that the reflection on the dish is their shadows! I thought this photo was elegant in it's simplicity. I like how the drops of water are "standing" alone but their shadows come together on the dish to look like they are on top of each other. I also like the contrast of the yellow drop against everything else in the photo. It is the only real color in the photo aside from black or white and i think it really brings the whole thing together instead of another white drop would.
Cat projecting shadow of lion

This image reflects the idea of light as subject matter because of the cats shadow being reflected onto the wall. The image speaks to me because it shows that you can never judge a person (or cat) by their looks. When you think of a cat, you wouldn't believe that a small house cat could be as ferocious as its lion cousins. Same goes for humans. Someone that's small and vulnerable can be fierce and possessive as well.
